L'Éguille-sur-Seudre in a motorhome: marshes, a typical port and local archives

Nestled on the banks of the Seudre, just a few kilometers from Royan, the Camping-Car Park at L'Éguille-sur-Seudre has established itself as a choice destination for motorhome owners in search of calm, authenticity and local discoveries. We spoke to the town's mayor, who talks about recent developments and the town's determination to offer a quality welcome to itinerant travellers.

A carefully landscaped area for motorhomes

L'Éguille-sur-Seudre's CAMPING-CAR PARK was opened in June 2023. Originally, it was simply an unused median strip. " Rather than leave it abandoned, we decided to turn it into a motorhome park", explains the Mayor. The commune quickly added essential services. In 2025, modern sanitary facilities with hot-water showers were installed.

This commitment to continuous improvement reflects the commune's commitment to providing a comfortable and practical welcome for all itinerant travelers.

Restored calm and increased visibility

Setting up the site was not without its challenges. A noise nuisance was reported at the outset, but the commune reacted quickly: "We had a wall built to attenuate the noise. It makes a big difference to the comfort of motorhome owners."

These efforts have paid off: the commune's tourist profile has risen by 30% since the site opened. And it's no coincidence: L'Éguille-sur-Seudre offers a unique setting, combining nature, heritage and local gastronomy.

A lively oyster port and a wealth of culture to explore

Situated on the edge of the marshes, the commune is famous for its typical oyster port, bustling with colorful huts, producers' stalls and oyster tastings direct from the basin.

But there's more to L'Éguille-sur-Seudre than its gastronomy. The commune has recently put the spotlight on its historical archives, enabling visitors to retrace local history through a variety of media, explanatory panels and preserved documents. A real plus for heritage lovers.

"We've unearthed many archives that give us a better understanding of the village's evolution. It's fascinating for curious visitors."

Nature, soft mobility and proximity to Royan

Active campervanners are not to be outdone: bikes can be hired directly from the tourist office, so you can explore the surrounding area at your own pace. The paths around the marshes offer peaceful landscapes, perfect for accessible strolls.

And for those who want to diversify their stay, Royan is just 15 km away, with its beaches, market, summer entertainment and iconic 50s architecture.

A must for motorhome travellers

Easily accessible, well-equipped and full of charm, L'Éguille-sur-Seudre has everything to seduce motorhome owners, especially senior citizens who love nature, history and seafood.
