We're continuing our 2025 tourist circuit with a three-day stop in Saint-Omer, in the Pas-de-Calais. A town full of charm, history and surprises! We stayed at the CAMPING-CAR PARK site in Saint-Omer, which is right on the edge of the Neuffossé canal, about 500 metres from the town centre. This site offers 16 well-defined pitches, all equipped with an electric hook-up, with a practical emptying area and a brand new connected terminal. A LIDL 100 metres away, a launderette on Rue de Dunkerque, and the Saturday morning market on Place Foch make everyday life easy for motorhomers.
Saint-Omer completely surprised us! The cathedral, impressive in its size and architecture, is definitely worth a visit. Built over several centuries, it brings together different periods of the Gothic style. The heritage centre, at the foot of the building, offers an interactive tour that's ideal for young and old. And what can we say about the theatre, right in the centre, an architectural gem that catches the eye! We loved the town's rich culture, with its many seasonal events.
The Maison du Marais is a must-see in Saint-Omer. A lively and moving place where you can discover the history of the market gardeners and the incredible network of canals dug since the Middle Ages. Our trip in a bacôve boat was magical: gliding on the water, guided by a passionate local, in a peaceful setting, is an experience not to be missed. Bike lovers will also be delighted: head for Arques along the greenway alongside the canal, as far as the Fontinettes boat lift, the only one in France! A true testament to the region's industrial and maritime past. Saint-Omer is a condensed version of nature, history and conviviality to discover in a motorhome, without hesitation!
