Discover Singen in a motorhome: 5 days of culture and exceptional views

We are Philippe and Geneviève, ambassadors for MOTORHOME PARKAfter a beautiful trip through Alsace, we continued our journey towards the Lake Constance region and the Black Forest, setting down our motorhome for a few days in Singen, Baden-Württemberg. Here's an account of our stopover, including discoveries, practical tips and favorites - to inspire you if you're passing through this beautiful German destination.

Singen: comfort, services and location

On arrival, we appreciated the quality of the area CAMPING-CAR PARK in Singen. It has 23 pitches. The rate is ~ €15/24 h for the whole night, with a reduced rate (~ €6) for short stops/services.

Here are the key services that we feel are important for motorhome travellers:

  • Secure area, 24-hour access.
  • Electrical connection available.
  • Drainage / water / all necessary services (grey water, black water) present.
  • Close to shops: bakery, supermarket, restaurants.
  • The city center is less than 1 km away, making it easy to get to on foot.

What we liked less / what we need to watch out for :

  • Electricity sometimes seems to be cut off (in case of over-consumption).
  • Passing trains and nearby railroad tracks: these can generate noise, depending on location.

Overall, in our opinion, this is a very good quality, pleasant and well-equipped area, suitable for senior travelers who want to combine comfort with proximity to points of interest.

Discoveries in and around Singen

During our 5-day stay, we explored the best of the destination, while enjoying our base at Camping-Car Park.

Day 1: walking tour & useful services

We started by picking up the BodenseeCard West at the tourist office. It offers: discounts for visits, free or reduced-rate access to transport in the Singen district, and to the bus/train depending on the route. A great way to save money and enjoy yourself.

The city center is a great place to stroll: shopping streets, cozy cafés, a bakery close to the breakfast area (less than 200-300 m away, according to sources). We walked as far as the railway station, which is very accessible, to plan an excursion to Constance (Konstanz) or the shores of the lake.

Day 2: Constance, lake & boat

Taking the train from Singen is easy. In about half an hour, you're in Constance for a day at the lake. Visit the cathedral, stroll along the lake, cafés, restaurants and even take a little cruise. View of Switzerland across the lake, and the Alps if the weather's clear.

Day 3: Hohentwiel fortress

Hike up to the Hohentwiel fortress, located on an ancient volcano less than 2 km from the area. The slope is steep (~15%), but every effort is rewarded with a 360° view of the region, the lake, the mountains, and a plunge into local history. The remains are well preserved, the atmosphere inspiring.

Day 4: Bikes & scenery

We took the cycle paths to Lake Constance (~ 12 km according to our itinerary). Magnificent scenery, tranquility, a great way to alternate gentle effort with pleasure, without the stress of the car.

We also visited the MAC Museum Art & Cars, which is very interesting for those who love vintage cars, design and local architecture. A welcome cultural touch after the great outdoors.

Practical tips for a successful stay

Here's what we wish we'd known before we arrived - you might find it useful:

  • Access card / Digital Pass CCP Essential for entering the CAMPING-CAR PARK area and accessing services. Make sure you have it, and know your identifiers, to avoid hassle.
  • Pack'Privilèges If you're traveling in several stages, this is very useful. You can reserve certain stops, guarantee a place on arrival, and avoid unpleasant surprises during busy periods.
  • Bring your own walking/biking gear: comfortable shoes for Hohentwiel, bike for the lake.
  • Bring cash or a local card for small purchases and transport.
  • Check the weather forecast, especially for the climb up to the fortress, and for bike trips.
  • Finally, the period of your stay counts: visitors, festivities and markets can change with the seasons.

Conclusion

Our stay in Singen, set in the CAMPING-CAR PARK area, was an ideal interlude: nature, culture, discovery, stress-free, with all the services to make motorhomes truly a vehicle for freedom. The region around Lake Constance offers magnificent landscapes, a soothing atmosphere and places rich in history.

If you're looking for a destination that combines comfort, charm and a variety of activities, Singen is an excellent choice. We urge you to discover this region, to set down your suitcases in CAMPING-CAR PARK areas like Singen, to borrow the Pack'Privilègesand use your CCP Access Cardaccess card for peace of mind.
