After our road-trip in Belgium, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais and the Sommewe headed for Normandyheading for Falaise. As motorhome travelers, we're looking for practical, safe and pleasant stops. L'CAMPING-CAR PARK in Falaise perfectly meets these criteria.
Situated at the foot of the castle of William the Conqueror, the campsite offers 18 electrically-equipped pitches, clearly delineated by small hedges of fruit trees. The river L'Ante runs alongside the site, crossed by pretty little bridges that add to its charm. Access is easy, and thanks to our Access cardwe were able to set up quickly and independently.
The town center is just a few minutes' walk away. We strolled through its pedestrian streets, admiring the Arlette fountain, the statue of Guillaume, and the Trinité church, built around 840. Nearby, a charming restored washhouse is also worth a visit.

Falaise's must-see is, of course, its medieval castle. We were surprised by the bold restoration, which blends ancient stone with a contemporary structure. The interactive tour is very well designed, and the view of the town from the keep is breathtaking.
We also visited the Civilian War Memorial. This unique museum, housed in the old courthouse, highlights the lives turned upside down by the conflict. A moving and instructive exhibition.
For a lighter touch, head for the Musée des Automates: over 300 animated pieces presented in detailed scenes, a journey through time that will appeal to young and old alike. Finally, a 15-minute walk away, the Château de la Fresnaye regularly hosts exhibitions in a setting steeped in history.

What we like best about the CAMPING-CAR PARK network is the security and peace of mind their sites offer. Falaise is no exception: full service, quiet pitches, and unlimited access 24 hours a day.
With our Pack'Privilègeswe booked our pitch in advance and were assured of a place even at the height of the season. This ability to cancel without charge up to 48 hours before arrival brought real flexibility to our organization.
And thanks to our Access Cardwe were able to take advantage of discounts at a number of local merchants, a real plus for our stay.
This stopover in Falaise was one of our favorites: a rich heritage, a natural setting, a center within walking distance, and optimal comfort for motorhome owners. If you're planning a road-trip in Normandy, we highly recommend stopping here.
