Visit Noirmoutier Island by motorhome

What if your next getaway took you between marshes, flowery alleyways and sea air?

Discover the island of Noirmoutier by campervan: a journey through nature, heritage and freedom

Imagine arriving on the island of Noirmoutier, behind the wheel of your campervan. Wild beaches to the west, salt marshes to the east... Noirmoutier welcomes you in a perfect balance between ocean and nature. The gentle wind, the smell of salt, the unique light of the Vendée coast... The journey begins even before you've parked your vehicle.

Whether you arrive via the bridge or, at low tide, take the legendary Passage du Gois, you'll find yourself on a peaceful, welcoming island where everything happens at your own pace.

And to park your wheels with complete peace of mind, the Noirmoutier-en-l'Île area awaits you. Spacious pitches, a calm setting, complete services: here, you're at home.

Heritage, nature and comfort: everything is here for a successful camping-car stay.

An island to explore without rushing

Noirmoutier isn't an island where you tick off boxes at top speed. It's a corner of France where you take your time. To stroll. To taste. To meet.

Noirmoutier has that rare gift of appealing to all types of traveler... especially if you like to take your time.

Do you fancy a bike ride or a walk? The cycle paths will take you through the woods, marshes and small, typical harbours of the island.

Are you more into shellfishing? Wait for the spring tides to go looking for cockles and clams, with your boots on and basket in hand.

More into old buildings and heritage? The medieval castle, the narrow streets with blue shutters and the lively town centre markets will charm you.

Fancy a break by the sea? Put your chair down facing Plage des Dames (Ladies' Beach), or settle down in the Bois de la Chaise (the Chair Wood), in the shade of the pine trees, lulled by the sound of the waves.

And you can experience all this on foot, by bike, or from your motorhome, without having to worry about parking.

Enjoy the friendly atmosphere and little local pleasures!

Some practical questions

To plan your stay and check out upcoming events, markets or bike rides, visit the Noirmoutier Island Tourist Office website.

What's the best time of year to make the most of Noirmoutier Island?

If you like calm atmospheres and bright days, aim for May, June or September. The markets are open, the cycle paths are quiet, and the island regains all its charm... without the traffic jams. Bonus: pitches are often more available and great deals are still valid.

Can you really do everything without a car on the island?

Yes, and that's one of the great pleasures of Noirmoutier by motorhome. Once parked, you can explore on foot, by bike or with the FREE GRATibus shuttle. The site is close to everything: port, beach, market, shops. It's an island on a human scale, perfect for leaving the car behind for a few days.

How to get here by motorhome?

  • Via the bridge (open all year round, free of charge)
  • Via the Gois passage, only at low tide (an unforgettable experience, but watch out for the times!)

Before crossing the bridge to the island, you can take a break at the La Barre-de-Monts – La Grande Côte area, just a few minutes from Noirmoutier. It's an excellent place to enjoy the beach or relax before continuing your journey.

And where can you eat local food without breaking the bank?

As a member of the network, you'll receive exclusive discounts at several partner restaurants and shops on the island. So you can enjoy oysters, fish and Vendée specialities while supporting local artisans.

Noirmoutier by motorhome is more than just a destination: it's an experience to be enjoyed at your own pace.

Between walks by the sea and cultural discoveries, you can sample local specialities. You'll also have time to rest yourself. All this will help you recharge your batteries.

Drop your bags, get out your bikes, breathe in the sea air.
