A Breton stopover in Pont-L’Abbé: Philippe and Geneviève's story

During our last motorhome trip, we had the pleasure of discovering the brand new CAMPING-CAR PARK site in Pont-L’Abbé, in Finistère. Located in the heart of Brittany, this charming town is known as the capital of the Bigouden region, with its deep-rooted traditions and typically Breton atmosphere.

As soon as we arrived at 1 bis résidence Les Trois Chênes, we appreciated how easy it was to access the site. Thirty stabilized pitches on gravel, each with an electrical connection and a small grassy area, were waiting for us. As always with CAMPING-CAR PARK, we found all the essential facilities: an automated check-in kiosk, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a modern service area with a connected terminal and a concrete disposal platform.

The real bonus? The town center of Pont-L’Abbé is just a 5-minute walk away via a charming pedestrian path. Perfect for exploring this town with its rich heritage.

We strolled along the quays built with stones from the old ramparts, before reaching the Gothic church of Notre-Dame des Carmes. This 14th-century chapel houses magnificent 19th-century stained glass windows, as well as an original rose window framed by delicate granite lacework.

Just after the bridge, the château des Barons du Pont is reflected in the pond. With its medieval keep, vaulted cellars, and 18th-century rebuilt building, this site perfectly illustrates the town's turbulent history, marked in particular by the Bonnets Rouges revolt.

Pont-L’Abbé is full of beautiful residences: private mansions from the 16th and 17th centuries, middle-class houses from the 19th century linked to the potato trade... The Thursday market is still the largest in Cornouaille today, a real treat for lovers of local products.

We also made a gourmet stop at the Pont-L’Abbé biscuit factory, located in an old water mill. Galettes, palets, kouign-amann and caramels are prepared there according to traditional recipes from 1936. A real delight!

For visits, we highly recommend the Bigouden Museum, the Kerazan manor, the Pont Habitu00e9 and the Notre-Dame de Tréminou chapel.

And to end the day in style, we had dinner at Le FIEF, 3 rue du Château. Chef Stéphane Varichon offers refined homemade cuisine, inspired by spices from around the world and seasonal products. An address not to be missed!

We had a very pleasant stay at this CCP site in Pont-L’Abbé, enjoying comfort, heritage and gastronomy. If you have the Privilege Pack or the Digital Pass Étapes, don't hesitate: come and explore this beautiful town in Cornouaille like we did!
