Alsace & Moselle tour: 11 unforgettable stops with Camping-Car Park

We're Philippe and Geneviève, CAMPING-CAR PARK Ambassadors, and we recently criss-crossed Alsace and Moselle in our motorhome. Over the course of a month, we discovered 11 areas in the CAMPING-CAR PARKnetwork, each more welcoming than the last. This road trip offered us a concentrate of everything we love: comfortable stops, a generous region, warm encounters, and above all... lots of freedom.

So if you're like us - a lover of heritage, nature walks and quiet spots - this tour is for you. Here are our 11 CCP favorites, shared with pleasure and simplicity.

Stage 1: Saint-Avold (Moselle)

The brand-new Saint-Avold site is located on the edge of the forest, 1.2 km from the town center. With its 12 electrically-equipped pitches, it offers a perfect compromise between tranquility and urban proximity. We took advantage of the Tuesday morning market to buy local honey, then visited the Saint-Nabor abbey church and its splendid 18thᵉ century organ. The surrounding hikes, amidst fir trees and heather, offered us a real breath of fresh air.

Stage 2: Sarreguemines

Located along the Saar Canal, the site has 25 pitches in two zones, all of which are electrified and have a large drainage area. Thanks to the towpath, the town center is easily accessible on foot or by bike. We loved visiting the porcelain museum, a real local treasure, and the church of Saint-Nicolas. The more sporty can take the 72 km Marne-Rhine canal cycle route, a peaceful route where herons and calm landscapes accompany your ride.

Stage 3: Soufflenheim

Renowned for its handmade pottery, this Alsatian village is a stopover not to be missed. The CAMPING-CAR PARK area, close to the center, has 12 pitches with electricity and a dumping zone. We loved strolling through the streets lined with stores and workshops, testimony to an ancestral know-how still alive and well.

Stage 4: Seltz

Just a stone's throw from the Rhine, this area of 24 electrified pitches is the ideal starting point for beautiful bike rides along the river. We followed the cycle paths through the villages and countryside of Alsace, watching the barges go by. We recommended a gourmet stop: at the nearby refreshment bar, we enjoyed a delicious Flammekueche followed by a homemade tiramisu.

Stage 5: Buhl (Germany)

Just 15 km from Baden-Baden, Buhl has a picturesque charm all of its own. The local market is full of good produce, and the church boasts an organ of rare beauty. From the CCP area, with its 16 well-equipped electrified pitches, we hiked through hills covered with orchards and vineyards. An authentic immersion in Germany, close to the French border.

Stage 6: Schoenau

Camping de mon village CCP in Schoenau, near a lake fed by an incredibly pure water table, is a haven of peace. Its 31 electrified pitches, sanitary facilities and drainage point make it a comfortable stopover. A stone's throw from the village, Nadège runs a small grocery store full of good local produce. Another favorite is the guinguette du lac, where regional specialties and conviviality are the order of the day.

Stage 7: Dambach-la-Ville

Surrounded by ramparts and three imposing gates, Dambach-la-Ville has a charming medieval character and famous vineyards. The site, 800 meters from the town center, has stabilized pitches, connected electric hook-ups and a well-designed disposal area. A stroll through its Alsatian lanes and a tasting of local wines are among our fondest memories of this trip.

Stage 8: Andlau

This charming wine-growing town nestled at the foot of the Vosges mountains is rich in heritage, with its abbey church, castles and picturesque lanes. The CAMPING-CAR PARK area offers comfort and practicality, with paved pitches and electric hook-up points. We loved the forest walk starting from the area, perfect on hot summer days to enjoy the shade and woodland scents.

Stage 9: Saâles

Perched at an altitude of 600 m, Saâles is a haven of greenery. Camping de mon village CCP offers 20 pitches (8 of which are stabilized). The sanitary facilities are due to open in 2026, but the atmosphere is already friendly and relaxing. We enjoyed some wonderful walks and tried out the "La Croisée des Chemins" restaurant, where the home cooking and warm welcome won us over.

Stage 10: Vogelgrun - Rhine Island

The only one of its kind, this area is set on an island between dams and locks. Its spacious (50 m²), gravelled pitches make for comfortable camping. We took advantage of its proximity to visit Neuf-Brisach, the fortified town designed by Vauban and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. An absolutely fascinating site not to be missed.

Stage 11: Fessenheim

The last stop on our journey, Fessenheim has a modern parking area with 16 paved pitches, equipped with electric hook-up points and nearby sanitary facilities. The nearby greenway is ideal for exploring the region by bike. We were impressed by the visit to the EDF dam and locks. Just 200 meters away, the Super U and its many services (fuel, laundry, lockers) make life easier for travelers.
